We are having an awesome week in kindergarten!  Jeremy has even predicted snow in the coming days.  EEK!

Today, Mrs. Cizmas came to meet the kindergarteners for the first time and they just LOVED her!  She will start full time on Monday.

We will be beginning our study of continents in the coming weeks.  Today you will find a purple sheet explaining our upcoming project attached to a white piece of paper.  Please provide up to ten names and addresses and send it back to school.  We will be making mini kinders to send off to our friends and family with a request for them to send us a postcard telling us a little about the city/state that they live in.  The kinders absolutely LOVE receiving the postcards and learning a bit more about the world.  Addresses for friends and family can be any where in the world.  Click here for the Flat Doll Address Letter explaining our upcoming project or if you need an additional address sheet.  Please let me know if you have any questions.

Reminders:

January 13th (Friday) – Early Release at 12:25

January 16th (Monday) – No School (MLK Day)

January 20th (Friday) – Arts ALIVE!

Have a FANTASTIC week!

Hello Families!  As you already know, having the kinders listen to stories that are being read is an incredibly important component of the development process.  In the classroom, the kids listen to me, their peers, and listen to books on CD.  The only problem is that all of our portable CD players are no longer working.  Here’s where I’m asking for a bit of help from you:

*Do you know how to detect the problem and fix portable CD players?

OR

*Do you or a family member have any portable CD players laying around, collecting dust that you would so graciously donate to our classroom?

Thank you so much for helping restock our classroom with this vital piece of equipment!

Welcome back!  First off, Happy New Year!  I hope you all had an enjoyable holiday season full of TONS of family time!  I worked some over break (as some of you already know, I’m a part time nanny as well) but was still able to enjoy some down time.  And by down time, I mean spending time with my family in Tacoma and giving Lola some much needed attention that had been somewhat lacking in the weeks prior to break.

This week we will be learning  a bit about the new year and begin working with a 100’s chart.  Your kinder has already created a new year’s resolution for themselves.  These will be displayed outside of our classroom in the coming days….feel free to check them out!

Mystery Reader – We have only had a couple of mystery readers this year, so please feel free to add yourself to the list.  This is a great opportunity for the kids to become exposed to books that they may not already hear in the classroom or at home, plus it gives them that added joy of introducing a loved one to the class!  The excitement on their faces when their parent, sibling, aunt, uncle, or grandparent comes in is pretty amazing.  I am super flexible and will make our mystery reader time work around your schedule.  The only time that we are completely unavailable is during specialist time.  Mystery readers are in the classroom for about 15 minutes and typically leave right after the story is finished.  Please email me if you would like to take part in this fun activity!!!!

Happy New Year!

Hello Families!  I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving!  We are busy clearing our classroom of all of our fall decorations and will soon replace them with winter ones.  This week we are beginning our study on reindeers.  If you get a chance try and check out a few books from the public library to learn a little bit more about reindeers!

This week more information will be coming home about our Gingerbread House Day (Thursday, Dec. 15th from 11:05-11:50).  Parents are encouraged to attend (students LOVE to build houses with a mom, dad, or grandparent!).  Please check out the letter that is coming home tomorrow!

Reminders:

Please send back your empty butter jars so we can reuse them next year!

This Friday is a full day!

Have a WONDERFUL week!

Our wonderful art docents have developed a very fun project for your little ones.  If your kinder plans to dress in red, white, or blue for Veteran’s Day, please be sure that they are clothes that are okay to get a bit messy.  All of the paint is washable Crayola.  I can’t wait to see what your kinders create!
